Sunset & Vine Tower
This is an adopted reuse of an old 20-story 85,000 sq. ft. high-rise office tower to steel-and-glass 63 luxury apartment units and 7,000 sq. ft. of retail space.
The new structure consists of 4 separate steel frames, one on each side. This system was chosen to minimize the tower's mass, speed construction time, and eliminate the need for shear walls. These panels will be used as giant advertisement boards. This is the first advertisement of its kind in Los Angeles.
A highly visible landmark, Sunset & Vine exemplifies the communitywide effort to restore the luster of Old Hollywood, updating it as a thriving, contemporary commercial and residential enclave. This will be the tallest building in Hollywood. - Building has a claim to fame as the office skyscraper in the 1975 film "Earthquake". - Also rock band Goo Goo Dolls recently used the rooftop of the tower for their new video clip used for the blockbuster movie Transformers.
