Telegraph Avenue

The 2850 Telegraph building is an existing 6 level mild reinforced concrete structure over one level of below grade parking. The seismic retrofit included a system of micro-piles, vertical post-tension, high-strength reinforcement, carbon fiber collectors, and shotcrete shearwalls. Each of the 4 main shearwalls consisted of high-strength reinforcement cages around 8 vertical bundles of post-tension cables. High strength 7,000psi shotcrete was used for the 2’-6” shearwalls throughout the building. Each wall is supported by a series of micro-piles for tension and compression loads. Carbon fiber collectors were anchored across the existing slabs at each level in order to transfer the seismic loads back to the shearwall core.
